Day 48 - Exhaustion

On February 17 we missed our flights for the third time. It was crushing. We planned to spend a week in Hawaii after one day in Seattle, yet here we were, four days into our vacation (36 of which were spent in an airport), exhausted from "sleeping" (or whatever you call waking up every 10 minutes) in the airport. Standby clearly wasn't working, we decided to buy direct flights to Hawaii. Our standby flight we were supposed to catch flew out at 10am, our newly purchased flight flew out at 6pm, so we killed some more time at the airport. Thank God Sea-Tac Airport had free wifi so we could stream Netflix!

As we soon found out, our newly purchased flight on Delta was overbooked by half a dozen people, all of whom showed up. Our tickets had no assigned seat number (since the flight was overbooked and everyone was checked in), and we purchased our tickets day of and were quite literally the last two tickets to be purchased for the flight. We faced a very real possibility of not making this flight if enough people didn't volunteer for standby.

As we sat there, exhausted, emotionally and physically, waiting to find out if we were going to make our flight, I took the photo for Day 48.
